Opportunity profile: Grants give support to regional developments

The Regional Studies Association's early-career grants offer members an opportunity to consolidate a postdoc career. James Field spoke to the RSA’s Auréliane Beauclair and two recent grant winners to find out more.

In 2011 the RSA introduced its Early Career Grant Scheme, which offers up to £10,000 over 18 months for individuals who are members of the association and are within five years of having received a PhD. The RSA had made 26 awards by 2015—and will make a further three in 2016. Recipients in Germany, Ireland, Sweden, the United States and China, as well as the UK, have examined topics ranging from geography, economics, management and business studies, planning, political science and sociology.
