Dongsheng Wen combined nanotechnology and energy to win nearly £1.5 million from the European Research Council. He tells Craig Nicholson that you need a strong track record and an innovative idea to succeed.

Dongsheng Wen, who holds a chair in petroleum engineering at the University of Leeds, was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant of €1.96 million (£1.42m) for iNanoEOR, a project on in-situ-produced nanoparticles for enhanced oil recovery.
