Bidding for large European grants takes time. Few know this better than the Finnish team involved in last year’s successful bid for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s Knowledge and Innovation Community for raw materials.
A decade ago, mineral exploration wasn’t considered the most prominent industry in Europe. But after an increase in the prices of raw materials, things have changed. The European Commission launched a Raw Materials Initiative in 2008 and the topic is one of Horizon 2020’s societal challenges.
