If you have a practical solution to an environmental problem, the St Andrews Prize for the environment might be for you. Craig Nicholson asked Raphael Vermeir, a prize trustee, what the judges are looking for.

The St Andrews Prize for the environment is run by the University of St Andrews and the energy exploration and production company ConocoPhillips. It awards $100,000 (£65,700) to one winner and $25,000 to two runners up for projects presenting a practical solution to an environmental problem. The award is open to individuals or groups, and they can be from any country. Raphael Vermeir is vice president of international government affairs at ConocoPhillips and a prize trustee.
