‘Do more innovation,’ Scottish funding council tells economists

Innovation is the watchword in Scotland, as David Ulph, director of the Scottish Institute for Research in Economics, tells Cristina Gallardo.

The Scottish Funding Council wants more of Scotland’s economists to be working in innovation as a condition of extending a grant to the country’s flagship Scottish Institute for Research in Economics, as Ulph explains while outlining the successes of his institute.

As a result of this drive for innovation, early-career economists will need to learn to multitask, he says, but money can still be found at SIRE to support economic research.
