Opportunity profile: Wolfson unshackles top researchers

The Wolfson Research Professorships set senior academics free from teaching and administrative commitments for three years. Their renown should not dissuade top researchers at smaller universities from applying, Ken Emond, the British Academy’s head of research awards, tells Anna McKie.

Wolfson Research Professorships are run as a partnership between the British Academy and The Wolfson Foundation. Each of the four awards on offer is worth £55,000 a year for three years, to cover costs of replacement teaching, with any balance available to the award holder as research expenses.

Senior researchers working in any field within the humanities or social sciences can apply and the deadline for the next round is Wednesday 23 November.
