Psychology researcher Barney Dunn's first bid for a prestigious NIHR Career Development Fellowship fell down. But he picked himself up for the next round and landed a £550,000 prize. Lindsay McKenzie hears how he did it.
The National Institute for Health Research’s fellowship programme opened for its tenth round on 18 October with the goal of helping those in basic research move into areas of applied health or clinical research. This year, the fellowships will also offer specialised training in clinical trials to help winners move into clinical research more easily.
Four different fellowships for PhD holders are available, depending on your career stage, with deadlines for all falling on 20 December. NIHR doctoral fellowships are also available, and the deadline for applications is 17 January 2017.
