Opportunity profile: Hopping to it in medical technology

For researchers at the interface of medicine and technology, a period of immersion on the other side can work wonders. The Healthcare Technologies Discipline Hopping call facilitates such placements, the EPSRC’s Anne Farrow tells Gretchen Ransow.

Launched on 3 March and open year-round, the Healthcare Technologies Discipline Hopping call sits alongside the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s Information and Communication Technologies Discipline Hopping call, which has been running for several years.

Under the call, researchers can apply to spend three to 12 months full-time (or up to 24 months part-time) in another environment. The funding can cover the applicant’s salary, travel and subsistence, plus resources for training or research activities, that the applicant will undertake while on placement.
