My winning proposal: Vet nets medical starter grant

When Georgios Oikonomou checked the list of winners of Academy of Medical Sciences Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers he couldn’t see another vet. That didn’t put him off and he won through, as Lila Randall reports.

The Academy of Medical Sciences’ Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers scheme aims to free early-career researchers from the burden of consumable costs so they can focus on developing their research portfolios.

The scheme runs twice a year, with the next round due to open in the summer. Bids can be for a maximum of £30,000, for projects of up to two years.
