Opportunity profile: In the frame with National Geographic

Researchers of any discipline, from any country, can apply to the National Geographic Society’s grants programme to support fieldwork. Eleni Courea gets the lowdown on the prestigious scheme’s latest incarnation.

The United-States-based National Geographic Society’s grants programme was reconfigured earlier this month to bring 17 different funding opportunities under one umbrella.

While the programme’s remit remains broad, the society has published details of three “lenses” that give an indication of the main areas that the society seeks to support. These are: The Human Journey, Wildlife and Wild Places, and Our Changing Planet.
