Research administration as a profession in Europe

Simon Kerridge and Stephanie Scott have set out to discover more about the research administration profession, and whether soft or hard skills are most important for its leaders. They present their initial European findings here.

At the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (Earma) 2017 conference in Malta there were a number of sessions looking at what it means to be a research administrator. Research management and administration is a profession that is difficult to explain to people outside academia, and often even to those inside it. What exactly is it?

The Research Administration As a Profession (Raaap) project that we are carrying out, aims to find out, and delegates at Earma had the opportunity to hear a presentation on the project.
