Gladstone’s was Britain’s first residential library and provides an oasis of peace for early-career researchers

Top tips

  • Students are prioritised over professors.
  • The study of historical and contemporary slavery, as well as feminism and Islam, is particularly welcome.
  • Keep the CV short and snappy.
  • Look at the library’s online catalogue to see how much material is relevant to your research.

Gladstone’s Library scholarships cover the use of the library and the cost of residence for a period of one week. A non-refundable administration fee of £25 is payable on acceptance of awards. Applications for 2020 awards close on 1 November.
