Pitching for STFC astronomy grants requires a team mentality, even when bidding alone
The Science and Technology Facilities Council’s system for awarding astronomy grants means some projects will be submitted as part of a group bid and some submitted alone. Group bids can either be submitted as institutional Consolidated Grants or as multi-institutional, project-focused Consortium Grants. First-time STFC applicants not included on a group bid must submit a New Applicant Grant application. The current round of STFC Astronomy Grants opened on 2 December and will close on 4 March.
As this week’s archive selection from November 2018 shows, whether applying as a group or individually, a certain team spirit is necessary for success.
