Daniel Turnberg Travel Fellowships forge links between the UK and the Middle East

Top tips:

  • Reach out to new collaborators rather than using existing contacts
  • Be realistic about what can be achieved in a short trip, and prioritise things that need to be done face to face
  • Work closely with your host researchers on proposals, taking into account cultural differences
  • Highlight how you will take things forward after the fellowship is over

Mayyada Wazaify from the University of Jordan and Jenny Scott from the University of Bath, UK, have become firm friends as well as long-term collaborators.
