We extract tips from the president of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining

The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is a professional membership body for scientists and engineers working in material extraction, recycling and reuse.

The institute runs several funding calls per year, with the next deadlines for six calls on 31 March. Among these are the Stanley Elmore Fellowships, which offer the largest prize at a maximum of £14,000 for two fellowships supporting research into extractive metallurgy and mining in UK universities, while the Bosworth Smith Trust Fund offers £5,000 for postgraduate research into mining, extraction or mineral dressing.
