Lock down every aspect of a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship bid to secure a win

The deadline for the eighth round of UK Research and Innovation’s Future Leaders Fellowships is fast approaching on 4 July. It is likely that all of those who will submit bids are already well advanced in preparing them, but even so, they might find a few welcome words of advice from two fellows from the scheme’s third round, published in May 2020.

For others contemplating a bid to the ninth—as yet unannounced—round, the message is clear: you probably can’t start thinking about your bid too soon. As future leaders fellow Pearse Keane told us: “You have to take a really good run-up to these applications. The actual write-up of the application is at least six months.”
