The Plan S open-access initiative continues to cause controversy. At the start of this month, a group of more than 50 publishers—including industry giants Elsevier, Springer Nature, Taylor and Francis, and Wiley—warned that the challenge to their right to own and monetise the papers they publish has impacted their whole business model.
