The Technology Strategy Board's work to fund R&D in energy, transport and manufacturing will continue to grow and take the biggest slice of the agency's budget for engineering and the physical sciences.
In its delivery plan for the financial year 2013-14, published on 14 May, the TSB has announced plans to launch “about 75 competitions for R&D and innovation” amounting to almost £300 million. For engineering and the physical sciences, this is mainly spread between the ‘challenges’ of energy, transport and built environment, and the UK’s ‘competences’ of manufacturing, digital economy and space.
