Learning gain takes a step closer to the teaching excellence framework.
Ten English universities will take part in a new study aimed at measuring how much students learn over the course of their studies, the Higher Education Funding Council for England has announced.
The mixed methodology longitudinal study will see 27,000 students take part to establish how their knowledge and skills have developed over the course of their degrees between 2016-17 and 2019-20. It is the largest of a series of 14 research projects that will involve more than 70 colleges and universities, and which are hoped will eventually result in a sophisticated measure to be used as part of the teaching excellence framework.
