Hesa data reveal some institutions are out of step with overall reduction trend
More than 20 higher education institutions have recorded an increase in their carbon emissions between 2017-18 and 2018-9, despite a reduction across the sector as a whole during that time.
According to data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency, UK universities saw a 3 per cent year-on-year fall in their total energy consumption year on year, while their carbon dioxide emissions fell by 7 per cent.
