Report attracts criticism over portrayal of ‘meritocratic’ social mobility in UK
Social mobility experts have hit back against a report claiming that movement up—and down—the social ladder is “the norm” in the UK.
In a report published by the cross-party Civitas think tank, University of Sussex emeritus professor Peter Saunders said claims that social mobility had stagnated in the UK were over-exaggerated.
