The lack of alternative higher-education providers is preventing increased social mobility in higher education, according to a report.
The Office for Students (OfS) must work with higher-education institutions to scale up personalised and industry-orientated provision, which is needed to meet employers’ needs and to widen participation, a report published by the Higher Education Commission on 14 September has said.
The commission, which is made up of cross-party politicians, higher-education leaders and industry experts, said in its report that the new regulator must give greater attention to diverse and innovative providers.
