TEF delay reliant on REF dates, board papers reveal

OfS and Research England will aim to avoid overlap between submission windows

Delays to the Teaching Excellence Framework are likely to push the next exercise back to 2022, but the final date will be picked to avoid a clash with the Research Excellence Framework.

Nicola Dandridge, chief executive of the Office for Students, has confirmed that the next TEF exercise is likely to be delayed from 2021 to 2022 due to disruptions from the Covid-19 pandemic, but she stressed the final date would not lead to a TEF and REF pile-up.
