Watchdog highlights progress but raises concerns over fallout from A levels

England’s higher education regulator has praised the rise in disadvantaged students securing university places, but warned that “challenges remain” following the A levels crisis.

In an analysis of initial data from admissions body Ucas following the release of centre-assessed A level grades, the Office for Students highlighted an increase in the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds going to university.
