OfS records rise in student numbers last year

Regulator reports growth in students at universities and colleges in 2019-20

There was a year-on-year jump of more than 60,000 in the number of students studying at higher education institutions in the last academic year, data from the Office for Students show.

On 10 February, England’s regulator published data showing that there were 1,864,106 full-time equivalent students at higher education providers in 2019-20, of which 1,756,550 were taking level 6 qualifications, equivalent to an undergraduate degree.
