Secretary of state also pushes ahead with high-cost subsidy cuts

The education secretary has confirmed that the London allowance is to be scrapped from the strategic priorities grant.

In a letter to the Office for Students—which will now implement the changes—Gavin Williamson (pictured) also confirmed that most high-cost subjects not related to medicine, healthcare, STEM, or supporting “specific labour market needs” will have their funding reduced from next year.
