Trade union says staff on casual contracts are struggling.

More than two-fifths of University and College Union members on casual contracts say they have struggled to pay household bills, according to a study published today.

The survey of 2,551 academics, of whom two-thirds worked in higher education, revealed that a third said they had struggled to meet rent or mortgage demands and one in five had experienced difficulties in putting food on the table.
