The slow erosion of the 12 per cent pay gap between male and female academics will take four decades to eliminate, according to the University and College Union.

The report, published on 26 May, showed that the divide was consistently dropping by 0.3 per cent year on year: in 2015-16, it was 12.0 per cent, in 2014-15 it was 12.3 per cent and 12.6 per cent in 2013-14.
