Drone-based learning will be education trend in 2019, says OU

Drones may have brought Gatwick Airport to a standstill in the build-up to Christmas, but according to The Open University, they could be buzzing into lecture theatres across the UK in 2019.

The OU’s Innovating Pedagogy 2019 report lists “drone-based learning” as one of 10 new forms of teaching, learning and assessment that it says will make an impact this year.

According a Rebecca Ferguson, a senior lecturer in the Institute of Educational Technology at the OU, and her colleagues, students can use drones to “collect data in places that would otherwise be difficult or dangerous to access”.
