Trinity boycott beckons over pension scheme exit

A motion to grey list Trinity College Cambridge if it follows through with its decision to leave the Universities Superannuation Scheme has been backed by delegates at the University and College Union congress.

UCU representatives meeting in Harrogate backed an emergency motion on 26 May to boycott Trinity College Cambridge for its “irresponsible” decision to leave the USS, which the college has said it will do by 31 May.

If the motion is adopted by the union’s higher education committee on 28 June, the UCU will call on members to stop supervising students, turn down speaking engagements and reject visiting professorships until Trinity College changes its decision to leave the USS.
