UCL joins fossil fuel divestment club

London university throws weight behind movement to make academic investments greener

University College London has announced that it will abandon any investment in fossil fuels by the end of this year, as the drive to fight climate change takes root in academia’s finances.

On 16 October, UCL promised it would no longer invest in firms extracting or making fossil fuels by the end of 2019, and would publish its portfolio of investments to make such decisions more transparent.
