Pressure mounts on government as four unions urge action on fire safety

Four union leaders have told the government to ban flammable cladding on all educational buildings following a fire at a student accommodation block in Bolton.

Leaders of the University and College Union, the National Union of Students, the National Education Union and the Fire Brigades Union set out demands for all educational buildings to be made safe within 18 months in a letter to education secretary Gavin Williamson.
