Lifetime skills guarantee ‘could exclude 2.5 million non-graduates’

Report claims up to 80% of non-graduates needing to reskill will not be covered

A charity has warned that up to 80 per cent of non-graduates who need to reskill following the Covid-19 crisis will not be covered by the government’s lifetime skills guarantee.

A poll by the University Partnerships Programme Foundation, the charitable arm of student accommodation firm UPP, found that 75 to 80 per cent of non-graduate workers who are at risk of losing their jobs as a result of the pandemic would not be able to retrain with the skills they wanted under the guarantee.
