Language learning needs ‘new strategic approach’

Education groups publish plan to reverse fortunes of language learning in UK

Four UK education bodies have pitched a national strategy to stem a reduction in the number of language students.

The British Academy, the British Council, Universities UK and the Association of Schools and College Leaders said languages were “strategically vital for the future of the UK, as we look to recover from the coronavirus pandemic” and called for funding reverse the decline in language learning by 2030.
