Several universities confirm hackers stole contact details

At least eight UK universities have been hit by a cyberattack on a US cloud software company, leading to students’ or alumni data being stolen.

Hackers targeted US firm Blackbaud, which offers cloud services for organisations including universities, in an attack in May. The BBC said universities were not informed until July, which a number of institutions have confirmed.
