Nishan Canagarajah says controversial strategic plan will strengthen the university as UCU urges student boycott
The vice-chancellor of the University of Leicester has defended plans to make compulsory redundancies after some members of his own staff called on students to boycott the institution in protest.
Nishan Canagarajah, who has led the Midlands university since 2019, said the 26 compulsory job losses were part of a strategic plan that would “strengthen the university now and in the future”.
