UCAS data reveal dip in applicants from the European Union but a rise among other international students

Fewer students from the EU have applied to undergraduate courses with an early application deadline this year, but there has been a hike in applications from international students.

Data from the admissions body UCAS show that 6,480 students from the EU applied for the 2020-21 academic year by the 15 October deadline, the first in the annual application cycle. The universities of Oxford and Cambridge are covered by the early deadline, as are most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses.
