Ucas records biggest jump in mature students for 10 years

Admissions body says tumultuous employment market partly behind the rise

The number of mature students recruited by UK universities jumped by more than 7,000 this year, the biggest single year increase for over a decade.

Data published by admissions body Ucas in its 2020 end-of-cycle report on 16 December revealed that the number of mature students in higher education rose to 114,440 in this academic year, which it said was the largest year-on-year increase since 2009.
