Universities pledge ‘flexible’ approach to admissions

Ucas and UUK issue advice to students who are applying to start university this year

UK universities have teamed up with Ucas, the admissions body, to offer advice to the huge number of potential students nervously waiting to hear about their hoped for university places.

Applicants are expected to receive record grades this year as a result of the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic, which led to the vast majority of in-person examinations being cancelled. Like last year, students will receive results based on assessments from their teachers—which may result in significant grade inflation.
