Almost 10,000 UK students participate in Erasmus+

Annual report shows increased participation in threatened European exchange scheme

Almost 10,000 UK students participated in an Erasmus+ exchange programme in 2018-19, according to the scheme’s 2020 annual report.

Some 9,993 students spent time overseas as part of the programme in 2018-19, the most recent year for which data are available, up from 9,540 the previous year. These figures include those participants classed by Erasmus as UK outgoing “students”. When “trainees” are also included—typically students who do an internship overseas through the programme—the number jumps to more than 18,000.
