Scotland and Wales seek ways to stay in Erasmus+

Nations say UK government is ‘isolated’ in opposing the scheme, warning Turing is poor replacement

The Scottish and Welsh governments are looking at ways to stay in the Erasmus+ exchange scheme, labelling the Turing scheme “a lesser imitation of the real thing”.

In a joint statement on 26 January, Scotland’s further and higher education minister, Richard Lochhead, and Wales’s education minister, Kirsty Williams, said they would “explore how Scotland and Wales can continue to enjoy the benefits offered by Erasmus+” now that the UK government decided not to stay in the programme after Brexit.
