Labour’s higher education policy will be founded on its “cost-of-living crisis” mantra.

At an event in London today Liam Byrne, the shadow universities minister, would not confirm any specific policy but he did provide a series of strong hints about Labour’s plans.

He said higher education would be an election issue because “people are trapped in this cost-of-living crisis”.
