Graduate visa extension for doctoral candidates and Office for Talent form part of R&D Roadmap
PhD graduates are set to benefit from a three-year, post-study work visa, while an Office for Talent will form part of a government pitch to tempt research talent to the UK.
From next summer, international postdoctorate students will have the right to live and work in the UK for three years after they complete their PhDs, under plans outlined by the government in its R&D Roadmap published on 1 July. The roadmap sets out the government’s ambition to make the UK a “science superpower”.
