Draft legislation must protect university autonomy, peers demand.
The higher education and research bill must be strengthened to safeguard university autonomy, academic freedom and reputation, members of the Lords said during a debate held on 6 December.
Some 68 peers spoke during an eight-hour debate in the Lords in which all parties criticised some elements of the bill, if not its overall objectives.
