Interim permanent secretary given Department for Education top job

Susan Acland-Hood has been appointed the new permanent secretary to the Department for Education.

Acland-Hood was appointed as interim permanent secretary on 1 September after the previous incumbent, Jonathan Slater, was dismissed following the A-level and GCSE results fiasco. She was initially expected to be in the role for six weeks, but has now been given the job on a permanent basis.
