Department for Education adopts Augar view on apprenticeships

Office for Students loses responsibility for higher-level apprenticeships

A recommendation in the Augar review to give exams watchdog Ofsted responsibility for all apprenticeships has been adopted by the government, although it remained silent on Augar’s other recommendations.

On 28 September the Department for Education confirmed that all apprenticeships, including degree apprenticeships, will be regulated by Ofsted from April 2021. It means higher-level apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships will no longer be regulated by the Office for Students.
