Minister calls on university leaders to sign up to the Care Leaver Covenant
Universities minister Michelle Donelan has urged vice-chancellors not to forget their responsibilities to care leavers during the Covid-19 pandemic, as she revealed just 14 per cent of providers have endorsed the government’s Care Leaver Covenant.
In a letter to university leaders dated 11 September, Donelan called for more institutions to sign up to the covenant, a government pledge to get more young people leaving care to enter higher education which includes promises financial advice, internship opportunities and training workshops.
