Government urged to give £700m for student support

   

All-Party Parliamentary Group on Students says students need help with rent payments

MPs and peers have called on the government to give around £700 million to boost student hardship funds in England during the pandemic, to make up for lost earnings and rent payments.

In its report on student accommodation and tuition fee refunds, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Students said that the government should “substantially” increase its support for students by “more than doubling” the existing £256 million of student premium funding.
