College and school leaders want consultation on Initial Teacher Training, which could affect universities, halted
A coalition of groups representing colleges and teachers have added their voices to universities’ concerns over the government’s review of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in England, calling for an immediate pause.
In a letter to schools minister Nick Gibb, six college organisations and unions said the timing of the consultation, which closes during the summer holidays on 22 August, was “an attempt to railroad through a huge change to the model of teacher training provision, with minimal opportunity for scrutiny and meaningful feedback”.
