Making his mark

The new immigration minister is considering changes to deal with “continuing challenges in the student sector”.

James Brokenshire (pictured), who took over as immigration minister last month, appears keen to tighten access to the UK for international students studying at below degree level.

Speaking to the Lords science and technology committee inquiry into international students in science-related subjects, Brokenshire said there were “continuing challenges” in private colleges, rather than universities.
